Baby wee smelling like fish

This is very random but has anyone had this? My baby is 11 months old and the smell is quite strong and unmistakenly fish-like. I dont have any other concerns but is this so unusual that I should seek advice?

The other day before bathtime she weed on her mat when her nappy was off and DH and I were looking around the bathroom wondering what smelt of fish until we realised that's what it was. I had even hypothesised that it must have been a couple of bath toys that were taken to the beach and maybe had seawater trapped in them!

Nope, it was the baby's wee. I thought about UTI but it has been on and off for months, so not something new.

Probably nothing to worry about, but worth calling your GP to see if a urine test would make sense.

That smell is usually a uti. My daughter had it. She had that smell before getting any bothersome symptoms and needed an anti biotic. She was a bit older. Get a pad from the chemist and leave a sample into GP first thing Monday.

Had she eaten fish? I notice with my children (who are much older but this has always been the case) that whenever they eat fish their wee smells very fishy! Its not pleasant but goes after they’ve weed a few times and had a bath!

Thank you all. Perhaps I will give the GP a call then to rule anything out.

Her we does seem to take on the smell of whatever she has eaten but she has the fish smell even when she hasn't eaten fish unfortunately.

In general her wee has always smelt quite bad. Iin the mornings we often think she's done a poo when in fact its just wee. I don't remember this happening with my first child.
