My daughter was born in February. Her eyes have always been blue but today I noticed 1/4 of her eye was brown. Is this normal? Will they change to brown now? TIA

I have a brown spot in one of my eyes but my eyes are still mostly green.

My baby born in jan eyes are like this. I've dark brown eyes DH light blue. I've no idea what colour eyes she will end up with

ErrolTheDragon · 19/07/2022 23:49

It's not that uncommon - my (adult) DDs eyes are grey-blue with a golden brown streak in one of them. So your babies may well keep this mixed colouring now.

I think your baby's eyes will probably change.
My 4 children were born with navy blue eyes and changed to hazel at about 2 years .

sunflowerdaisyrose · 19/07/2022 23:59

My daughter's started changing like this at around 5/6 months old and she now has beautiful hazel eyes that take on other colours depending on what she's wearing/lighting. Before that they were blue but also looked navy/grey depending on light.

My other daughter who kept blue eyes, they were very bright blue from early on and never thought her's would change (and they didn't).

Eyes are fascinating watching them change over time!

My DS had an eye like this. It eventually turned completely brown.

sparklecrazy · 20/07/2022 13:21

Awww. Looks like they're changing colour.

LatinForTelly · 20/07/2022 17:39

My daughter has this - a full quarter is brown, the rest green. She is a late teen now - it's never changed!

underneaththeash · 21/07/2022 21:33

Would you go and get it checked please?

i can see a little membrane encroaching the pupil area on the LHS and it sometimes can cause a bit of amblyopia - or lazy eye, which is treatable. Your GP or HV can refer you.

Hotpinkangel19 · 25/07/2022 19:19

My daughter has this, segmental heterochromia. I had her checked at the eye hospital- they like to just make sure everything is okay. She's 4 now and calls it her special eye!

PuttingDownRoots · 25/07/2022 19:24

My DD was born with grey eyes and black hair. By her first birthday her hair was very blonde with brown eyes, then settle at pale brown hair with brown eyes.

Nicklebox · 25/07/2022 19:32

My daughter has this too. She has it in both her eyes they are mostly blue with a segment of brown in each one. She is 24 now and they have never changed.

My blue eyed sister has a large fleck of dark brown in her eye. I don’t think it’s that unusual is it?

Cucumberinginplease · 25/07/2022 19:40

My DD has a brown segment in her eye. We picked up on ot quite early on and when she a as about 5 it was checked out by the opthalmology dept. All fine BTW.

I'd say its worth a mention at your next routine appointment so HCP are aware and can keep an eye (!) And refer of needed.

Careylisa · 25/07/2022 19:40

I have grey eyes and one has a large brown fleck in it.

Hi OP, what was your baby's eventual eye colour? Mine's are very similar at 10 weeks :)
