What’s up with DD’s eye?

Morning
I noticed DD had a slightly swollen area under her eye yesterday, it was so mild I wasn’t sure if it was just the light if you see what I mean.
She’s woken up today and it’s a little bit worse, photo attached. No temperature, it doesn’t seem to be bothering her at all.
I tend to over react when she isn’t well (health anxiety), so looking for what ‘other mums’ would do!
thanks xx

Just looks like hayfever to me

Wouldloveanother · 10/07/2022 09:02

Thanks wouldn’t hayfever be in both eyes though?

My hayfever is often in one eye only. Pop to the chemists, a pharmacist should be able to advise you

nightshade · 10/07/2022 09:06

Tbh i don't actually see anything that looks wrong!

FfeminyddCymraeg · 10/07/2022 09:07

I wouldn’t give that a second thought tbh - just looks a little irritated.

Crabwoman · 10/07/2022 09:10

Probably hey fever. Doesn't have to be in both eyes.

Could also be a the start of a sty?

Afterfire · 10/07/2022 09:14

Barely noticeable to me. I would say if anything it’s been rubbed too hard.

Icequeen01 · 10/07/2022 09:25

I can hardly see it but it may be the start of a little stye. They can start off with a little bit of redness for a couple of days then the stye appears.

Alternatively it could be hayfever. I'm currently sporting one very swollen eye and one normal eye due to hayfever and it's rare that I get it in both eyes for some reason.

Chasingclouds100 · 10/07/2022 09:33

Hope she is ok. Might be worth doing a covid test as the only symptom my DD had when she had covid was a sore swollen eye - apparently it is a sign to look out for

Wouldloveanother · 10/07/2022 10:58

It’s not showing well in the photo, the lower rim of her eye looks slightly swollen and the skin underneath is purple. The eye itself is fine, it’s not puffy or bloodshot and she doesn’t even seem to have noticed. Will keep an eye and take her to be seen if it gets worse. Thanks everyone

Looks fine - best not to take pics and make a thing of it or there will be 2 of you with health anxiety!! 😀

Wouldloveanother · 10/07/2022 18:39

Bit more noticeable today
still no temperature and she says it doesn’t hurt, she’s acting completely normally
thoughts, please?

It’s just a bit of hayfever or a slight infection. Get some brolene ointment if you’re concerned. This wouldn’t warrant a GP appt - just pop and see the pharmacist.

Are you receiving treatment for your HA? I say this kindly as I suffered with it but this is minor, at best.

I’ve just read lots of scary thing on here about orbital cellulitis so it’s worrying me a bit.

I’ve had that and it’s the most painful thing ever. It felt like someone had taken a baseball bat to my face. You’d know if she had that.

SeaGlassShining · 10/07/2022 19:46

I would see a doctor (I know, if actually possible). If it is an infection, I’d want it sorted as soon as possible.
Hope it clears up quickly.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 10/07/2022 19:50

Looks like it could be the start of a style. Hold a warm clean compress on it for as long as he'll let you, maybe when you're watching telly or readings story.

Useyourfork · 10/07/2022 20:50

It might be worth having some sterile saline pods in your first aid box, they’re great for eye rinses and can nip mild eye infections in the bud.

Icequeen01 · 10/07/2022 21:34

I am pretty sure that is the start of a stye.
