What would you do? Newborn + known covid risk

My DD is 4yo and in preschool. My DS is just 3 weeks old :) yesterday we found out that DD preschool teacher has covid :(

My DH isn’t phased by this and hasn’t given it another thought (other than to hope the lovely teacher feels better soon) … but I can’t help but wonder whether I would be wise to keep my DD home from preschool this week to minimise the known risk of bringing covid home to our 3 week old.

Our household is only just recovering from chicken pox - DS hasn’t shown signs of it yet but could still be incubating it for another 10days in theory.

don’t get me wrong, I know when DD starts school properly in September this year, I won’t be able to keep her home every time someone catches covid… it’s just with DS being only 3 weeks.

id appreciate knowing what others would do in this situation - send her in to pre school and let things take their course or keep DD home? Thanks!

I think the risk was when she was around the teacher. I presume the teacher won't be in while COVID positive?

My dd was 9 days old when we her dad and sis caught it, i tested pos when she was about 11 days. Honesty it didn't effect her in the slightest. She's breastfed too and obv we couldnt isolated from her.

I think your little will be fine and still have your antibodies. It may even do his immune system some good to get it now while he's still well protected.

I've just had a flu like thing and again my little has been completely fine. They are more resilient than you would think it seems!

Thanks for taking the time to reply! Glad to hear you were all ok! It’s comforting to hear your DD wasn’t affected even though you were still BF and couldn’t isolate from her. We would be in the same position.

I would keep her home, as the teacher might have infected other students before she realised who are likely to spread it around the nursery.

If no new cases by Tue/Wed I'd probably send back though (assuming you get notified of new cases).

I didn't isolate from my breastfed baby when I had covid. We all had it. He was about 3-4 months old (we were all fine).
