Food allergies in breastfed babies

Hi,
This is the first time I am asking a question here but I think this is the best place to ask.
I am a mum of three. I breastfed the older two for almost 2 years each. Now I am breastfeeding my 6 month old.

But I have now started to doubt if breastfeeding could be a reason for my kids’ food allergies (my diet or lifestyle being the cause).

Whenever I look threads on mumsnet I find most of the mums whose kids have allergies have breastfed their kids.
I do not see mums of bottle fed kids saying their kids have allergies.
So if someone can clear my doubts about it, that would be great.
Are their any mums who exclusively bottle fed their kids but the kids still developed food allergies???

And this is why it's important not to draw conclusions from anecdotal experience.

Yes, quite!

I'm late to the party, however I have 3x exclusively breastfed children (the older two breastfed into late toddlerhood they're now in high school, and my current LO is 8m) same type of birth/gestational age/no assist.

Child 1 - mild eczema (hands) from 6m outgrew around 5y. - No allergies.
Child 2 - No allergies
Child 3 - Multiple allergies

@HHVPRN I'm curious, do you remember if any of the kids had one or two bottle feeds e.g. when your supply was coming in, or when you were in the hospital?

In my group of 8 mums, 5 babies have intolerance and 4 of them were exclusively formula fed. The breastfed baby just discovered their allergy earlier. The 3 babies without intolerance, two was breastfed and one was formula fed xx

Yes this

I breastfed all four of mine, no allergies. I was bottlefed and I do have one allergy - dust. It can be quite dramatic as my lips and eye lids swell and my face goes red.

DH was bottlefed and is allergic to penicillin.

I don't think how we were fed made a difference but a scientist might be able to prove it.

I think it is just genetics.

Me and my siblings were bottle fed as babies and all 3 of us had dairy allergies and asthma (we all outgrew the allergies very early in.

My 2 were bf’d - the eldest exclusively, the youngest exclusively other than one feed in hospital when they insisted in supplementing with formula to stabilise her blood sugars.

My eldest has coeliacs, eczema and asthma, the youngest had a plethora of allergies (including a very serious milk allergy which caused hives and breathing difficulties - which she has now thankfully grown out of).

My daughter with the allergy to milk definitely reacted through my breast milk. Screamed her head off for the first 6 months, pooped green mucous and dropped 3 centiles. It only become obvious that this was an allergy when we started weaning. We had mixed advice from the allergy clinic in whether I needed to cut out milk from my diet but it wasn’t until I did so that my daughters weight and tummy issues resolved.
