2 year old constantly catching everything

My toddler is constantly sent home from nursery at the moment (every other week the last few weeks) with something or other. Recently we've had hand foot and mouth, tonsillitis, a vomit bug, temperature...I am so fed up of it and starting to worry why they keep catching things. Is it normal and can I do anything about it to try to prevent more sickness? Also it's so frustrating when we are paying for the childcare. Thanks

I put my 11 month old into nursery a month before I was due back at work.....I smugly thought this gave her a chance to catch the bugs that I was told she would undoubtedly catch whilst I was still available. Well. My first day back I got a call from nursery at 12pm asking me to come and get DD as they thought she had hand foot and mouth. I then caught a bug from her and was hideously ill for two weeks! I literally remember taking her to prezzo for her first birthday (in reigate when it used to be there) and pissing myself on the way back to the car as I was coughing so hard. Miserable.

Fast forward a year - a day before we were flying to Dubai for her second birthday....nursery call and say they think she has hand foot and mouth! Thankfully the minimal spots had vanished by the following morning and the doctor said it clearly wasn't.

Anyway - I feel that she caught everything going at nursery! Sickness bug and chicken pox.

Since starting prep & then school she's had the odd cold but nothing major. She hasn't even had Covid!

BUT she's been off for a week now with chicken pox. Again. To be fair it was a mild case at nursery.

My second daughter hasn't gone to nursery as I didn't return to work. So she hasn't had loads of bugs - just the ones from her older sister. But she's going to a childminder from September so i guess I can expect it all to come then. It's hideous isn't it.

Yes it is normal and there is little you can do as nursery is the worst place for catching things. Sorry I know that is no help but it is just like this when they are little.

Sorry - my post made it sound a little like she didn't have anything in between her 1st and 2nd birthday - she had tonsillitis also. And a vomiting bug. But it definitely improved when she started prep school at 3 years old.

Although she did get croup last November and ended up in hospital. And in summer 2020 we were in hospital with a really bad stomach bug. Honestly - it sounds worse but it is honestly better than nursery!

(I'm sorry I'm doing nothing to help - I honestly remembered nursery being hideous for bugs and school being ok but now I'm remembering everything .....)

I do find nurseries tend to send a child home for every little thing, a childminder would not send a child home with a temperature, just get permission to administer calpol.
