Reflux in older child

Does anyone have experience of reflux in an older child? DD(12) had terrible reflux as a baby but all seemed better by the age of about 2. However, recently she seems to have been suffering bouts of it again - mainly pain and belching but on a few occasions there has been repeated regurgitation. It's not constant - will be bad for a few days then seems fine for a week or two then she will have another bout.It is always worse in the evenings. I've been giving her Gaviscon when she gets it but I'm not sure it makes much difference.

Tonight she has been especially bad - bringing up tiny amounts of regurgitated food every couple of minutes. I'm going to see if I can make a doctor's appointment but I wondered if anyone else had experienced this with their DC and if there was anything in particular that helped? I don't know if it could be related to puberty. As a baby, she was intolerant to cow's milk so I will try removing dairy from her diet too.

My son has had bad reflux from being a prem baby. He's now 9.
He also has bowel issues. When he gets backed up it affects the reflux making it loads worse. So it might be worth looking at the whole digestive tract?

I'm sorry she's suffering, its horrible. Is she taking anything to help it?

My son is 14 and gets this on and off over the last 3-5 years . He used to get ranthidine before it was banned . Now he just manages it more with diet . No fizzy drinks , spicy , orange juice etc
however it does flare up at times . Tums help and a product called Reduflux you can only buy abroad
Maybe probiotics might help . Natural yogurt

Thank you both. Interesting, she has been a bit constipated so that could be making it worse. She only takes Gaviscon at the moment, although she does have a daily probiotic tablet.

My 6 yrs old, ex cmpa child has even having some issues which are being put down to reflux.

Has she been tested for Coeliac disease?

My pre schooler has had reflux from birth. Had CMPA until around 2. The only think that’s really helped has been Domperidone. It speeds up the digestion of food, so it isn’t in the stomach for long to be able to be regurgitated.
They have to do yearly ECG’s to check for arrhythmia’s while prescribing it though. No food for as long as possible before bed, so eat as early as possible basically. I’d definitely consider constipation and treat with Movicol as that could definitely be making things worse.

Chocolate and greasy foods seem to be a trigger for us.
