Should I be worried?

I have a 11 week old DD,, and today recieved a letter to say she has been referred to Birminghams Children Hospital.
This is due to her head circumference..
Dd was born a week overdue, weighing 6pound 13 and on 25th centile for length and head circumference.
Fast forward to her 8 week check with health visitor and her weight was 10pound 6 putting her on the 50th centile, she was plotted on the 75th centile for length , so a bit of a jump for both.
However her head circumference was measured on the 91st centile, so a huge difference from birth. Health visitor said that it was very important I mentioned this to GP at next check up.
8 week post natal check with GP was delayed and so we only had her check up last Friday. I mentioned head circumference and DD was measured again, this time jumping to the 98th centile. Gp muttered absolutely nothing to worry about, and we went on our way.
However later that evening I had a phone call from GP to say that she had referred DD to paediatrics just to be on the safe side, due to head measuring big.
I wasn't too worried, until I got the letter today from BCH! I think it's the choice of hospital which is making me think that this something potentially serious.
Dd is content little baby, and to look at I don't think she has a big head, but I could be bias! However she does sleep an awful lot, she has been sleeping 10 hours a night since 8 weeks old and struggles to stay awake for more than half and hour at a time during the day.
Sorry for babbling on.
Has anyone been in a similar position before?

Head circs can be tricky to measure
Best to check with paediatrician
They could also scan
May be nothing may be something
Best to check
Do you and dad wear big hats?

Yep - happened with my now 5yr old. Seemingly a massive jump in head circ between birth and 8 weeks check. GP had me come in and have it monitored for a few weeks - no more jumps in HC so GP sent us on our way happy that there was nothing untoward going on. He does have a big head though - like his Dad and one of his brothers! I wouldn't worry about it and just take heart that they're being cautious just in case!

I wouldn't necessarily say the sleep thing was anything to worry about. One of mine was like that, very sleepy right from birth. He's nearly 5 now and still has a nap about 3 days a week on average and sleeps well at night too. He's just a sleepy boy (gets it from me I think!)

Agree that variations in how the head is measured is most likely explanation, not that her head has grown fast.

The GP really doesn't know there's a problem.
They just know who the experts are who can give you best answers if there's a problem and what to do about it. Of course the baby-skull experts are at the kids' hospital.

X fingers for you that the experts will decide her noggin is within healthy natural variation ( I had this for DS but about a different body part). Most of these referrals are complete false alarms.

I agree with other comments OP. My son was born under the 2nd centile in weight, very short but big head. Hes been seen several times and its been commented on ny paeds but his daddys side of the family all have big heads. When he was 1 his head was on the 80th and his length 25th. Hes now just over 2 and head is 86th and length is 30th.
Try not to worry too much.

Thankyou all for reassurance. Your right suppose its best to be cautious. So hard not to worry though and I've made the mistake of googling!

Probably just over thinking things 😕
I count myself lucky that she sleeps. My oldest never did!
