I am going to book a GP appointment b it just wondering if I should ask for any specific tests or anything. Symptoms below

  • waking up feeling sick and dizzy at least once a week, has threw up breakfast on 2 occasions when feeling like this. No fever.
  • sudden blurry eyesight which only lasts seconds, happens probably twice weekly,
  • tired all the time although can still play etc.
  • weight is on the low end but appears to eat well, I have added extra healthy foods such as nuts and cheese etc but no change in any symptoms.
  • mood swings - unsure if related.
  • has become more clumsy and trips a lot

Thank you

I am sure there are a million other more innocent reasons - but please do speak to your GP

I would take her to the optician also. Important to check if there’s any pressure

Hello - I hope you've had the appt. If they haven't tested I'd be asking for blood sugars to be checked to rule out diabetes (just in case) Smile

BluOcty · 18/06/2022 22:44

Definitely ask for a diabetes check. Do they smell like pear drop sweets or smell odd?

GreenIsle · 18/06/2022 22:48

Thanks, bloods were taken yesterday. Would the bloods potentially show if there was anything related to diabetes. I'm Surprised the doctor never mentioned a specific test for this.

There's a blood test called HbA1C which measured glucose/haemoglobin, as the life span of those cells are 3months it indicates sugar/glucose control for the previous 3 months. They very well may have included that with the bloods that were taken.

Sounds very much like anaemia to me. Are they quite pale?

Hello I would also recommend having a look at the link Blackswan posted. Brain tumours are rare but easier to treat if caught early, so it's always worth asking the GP to specifically rule it out. I would also take your child urgently to the optician especially as they are having blurred vision. Blood tests will not show a brain tumour- my child's blood tests were completely clear.

My son had/has similar symptoms including pain blurry right eye. He was investigated and diagnosed with ocular migraine. Sounds very similar

GreenIsle · 19/06/2022 10:20

Thank you for the response, she is very pale. The Gp done some checks with her a balance and strength (guess to rule out brain tumours potentially) and that was good with no issues noted.

@GreenIsle how's your DC ?

GreenIsle · 05/07/2022 11:00

Blood tests came back normal. No really change in symptoms. Dc felt wobbly and was sick few times last night like before but there is never any temperature or any other symptoms, still blurry vision which comes and goes.

Have booked another option appointment for a check this week before I go back to the Gp to push for more tests.

The headaches and blurry visions/ sickness are never at the same time they are all separate symptoms that come on their own.

I would make it a priority to take her to the optician, it’s not invasive and easy to arrange.
