Is this just dry skin?

My 15 year old dd has developed this very dry patch on her ankle. It doesn't itch, but it's spreading. She's been applying diprobase for a couple of weeks, but it hasn't made any difference. Nothing on her other ankle.

Is this just dry skin?

My child has similar although not so dry. He gets it form sitting on his feet all the time (hypermobile) and it causes rubbing and thick skin

Oizys · 11/06/2022 16:16

My ankles look like that like PP said it’s just thicken skin from me sitting cross legged and the skin rubbing

toomanychickens · 11/06/2022 16:31

Hmm. Perhaps it is from something rubbing then. Not sure what as its never appeared before and she's not changed the way she sits. She'll just keep on applying the moisturiser!

I have this, only on one ankle tho, was also told it's because I used to sit on floor a lot in a old job, has never really gone away unfortunately and I'm 28 now 😬

I don’t rate diprobase at all.
we’ve had it prescribed before and found it pretty useless. That is so dry I’d put a really hydrating cream on it.

this stuff is amazing. I use it as hand cream as I wash my hands a lot

O’keeffee’s is also amazing. It heals splits in my hands within days.

I'd be tempted to moisturise well overnight, by applying some vaseline on top after the moisturiser has soaked in, to seal it in.

Then in the morning soak in the bath and gently exfoliate with a face cloth or even a pumice stone. Only if it isn't sore though! This might help to remove the top layers of dead, rough skin. Moisturise well again after the bath.

As the others have suggested it looks like dry thickened skin, my elbows used to be like that and QV Intensive (from Amazon) sorted them out, now I only need to use every few weeks to keep it going

toomanychickens · 11/06/2022 16:54

Thanks for advice. I have some O'Keefes hand cream so I'll try putting that on it.

OP did you ever find anything that worked? I have the exact same thing on my foot and nothing is budging it! Eager to know if anything worked for your daughter
