Toddler d&v floppy/faint episodes

Hello

Currently in hospital with my 1yo pfb. He's had what appears to be a d&v bug for a few days, has had a feeding tube to help rehydrate. What is concerning me is he keeps having episodes of going faint and floppy with a worrying vacant glazed look. No one seems to understand why, all stats and tests come back normal. These sometime happen before or after d or v but not always. None of the family have caught the bug, I almost wonder if it definitely is a bug.

Sorry if this seems abruptly worded but I'm in bits, can't sleep and so worried. Has anyone had a similar experience? I'm wondering if there are any other tests he could have to understand what is happening. Really grateful of any insights. Thank you x

The episodes that are related to vomiting/diarrhoea could possibly be down to this: www.verywellhealth.com/vasovagal-reflex-1945072

Exactly this.

It's common - my 2yo was doing it last week with a d&v bug.

Another one adding to the chorus of vasovagal episodes. These can also be triggered by the feeding tube placement in my experience. Is he still needing it?

They testing his sugars? Often little ones are more affected by low blood sugar during bugs than older kids and can make them sleepy, floppy etc dioralyte does not contain sugar so it is important to check blood glucose whilst ng feeding.
hope your wee one is on the mend soon

Thanks for the replies, I shall check out the information now I've had chance to take stock. We're back home now with it all being put down to a virus. He's been absolutely fine today but then late in the day had another funny turn with no sickness or anything else, then was fine again. His blood sugars were tested and were fine each time as we're all of his other stats.

I'm just hoping it will pass in a few days, the dr seemed sure it would. It's all been such a worry. I'd not heard of anyone else experiencing something like this as part of a sickness bug so wanted to get a few other opinions.

It's so hard when they're so little and can't explain how they are feeling!

Thanks all xx
