Magnesium for child's tics

Hi, my nine year old son as had an involuntary head movement tic on and off for just over a year now (it did go away for a few months )

From researching it does look like classic tic signs, happens more when he's excited / anxious/ nervous and tired.

I've heard that magnesium is meant to be really good and he is most probably lacking in magnesium but trying to research supplements and which is the best is a mine field! Obviously I only want to do what's best / don't want to risk causing any other issues if I give him the wrong thing. Some say the oil is the best but a lot complain of itchy painful sensation when putting on. Others suggest the bath salts but again how can you monitor the dosage etc?

Just wondering if anyone on here has a child in the same situation and if you do use magnesium which is the best? Thanks

My DD has Tourette’s and it was suggested magnesium with B6 - I’ve attached a screen shot of the ones we use - I can’t link as it’s from my Amazon app

Not sure if I’ve noticed any difference though

I also buy the magnesium bath flakes - she uses them whenever she’s had a nasty tic attack and has bashed herself about. She loves them, always feels a lot better afterwards

Thanks alloalloallo, is it clear on how much to put in? I suppose even if it helps him sleep better (not that I think he doesn't get much sleep)

I think it tells you on the back of the packet how much to put in the bath. I’ll have a look when I get home.

She doesn’t use the bath flakes as a supplement though, she just finds it helpful with the aches and soreness after she’s bashed herself about during a tic attack.
