I'm wondering what factor of sunscreen people put on their kids when it's sunny...

My DD is 2.5 and we are going on our first abroad holiday (temp should be around mid 20 degrees). I've been using factor 50 on her as a baby at home but someone told me once that 50 is just full of additives and doesn't let the skin let the heat out and factor 30 is fine??

I'm super fussy with sunscreens (I cannot tolerate that greasy feeling!) So I use the hawaiian tropic Factor 30 as it's just like body lotion. Can she use this too? I haven't seen a factor 50 in that brand though and it's quite expensive. Or any recommendations for other non-greasy sunscreens that don't break the bank??

Thanks in advance!

I wear factor 50, never overheated yet. I wouldn’t put factor 30 on a toddler abroad.

Ultrasun do baby sunblocks. I use an adult mineral one of there’s it’s not greasy.

What you were told is rubbish. Everyone should wear factor 50 especially children. My son is mixed ethnicity and I still use lots of Spf on him though he has darker skin.

That sounds like junk science!

We use Child's Farm factor 50.

We're going on holiday to a sunny part of Europe in 2 weeks. My dc have olive skin and when I was buying sunscreen today I bought factor 30. Dc are 18, 20 and 22! Bought factor 50 for me, practically blue-skinned Scot. Dc have inherited their dad's skin and he's got Southern European genes.

P20 or Childs Farm for my toddler. Used blue Nivea twice when she was younger and she burned both times, despite reapplying, never had an issue with the above two. I also have never gone below factor 50 for her.

My friend had skin cancer and her dermatologist told her that Aldis sun screen is the best. I use factor 50 on my child and 30 on me. we never burn. Have a look at the UVA and UVB ratings for sun cream

The P20 and calypso once per day stuff isn't the best x
