Kidney Ultrasound question

Our 12 yo daughter has a long history of severe UTIs and over the past year, has pretty much lost control of her bladder - which has been really distressing for her. She has always had regular bladder/renal ultrasounds since her first infection aged 2, and they have always been quick and followed the same format. Having not had one for over two years due to lock-down cancellations etc, she finally had one yesterday. This one seemed much more thorough than previously - they scanned her on her front and back - as opposed to always on her back. And once she had emptied her bladder, they re-scanned everything again including her kidneys, and not just her bladder for residual volume like before. The sonographer did not ask any questions, nor seemed familiar with her history.
Just wondering out of niggling curiosity, why that would be? Just an extra thorough scan? Or are there particular reasons for re-scanning kidneys post void?

We weren't told anything afterwards, and don't have the follow up appointment for another two weeks. Thank you!

I have had kidney ultrasounds in the past and they rescanned kidneys after going to the toilet.

The radiographer wouldn't need to know about her history, they just need to know what scan they're doing.

My youngest gets kidney ultrasound scans and they always scan again after she had emptied her bladder. I think it's just the standard method for a scan and nothing to be worried about.

A brief voiding study? So essentially my dd had a puj (a tube) obstruction and the kidney on that side works slower than the other they would scan then she peed then scan again she also had several mag 3 scans which showed her kidney in real time working slowly

It was fascinating but I was glad when it was better

Thank you everyone. She has had previous DMSA scans etc, one kidney with slightly less function than the other - 40/60.
With previous ultrasounds, they would always quickly scan the bladder and measure volume - just seemed more thorough this time!
Thanks again 😊
