Found some on my 9yo son.

I found quite a lot of nits and only one adult. Hoping I caught it early there didn’t seem to be different sizes etc so hopefully just the first batch of eggs.

He’s had them before four times so I regularly comb to check. Are some people more prone than others? His brother hasn’t had them (yet)

He also has a hair cut booked for Tuesday. I’ve combed and pulled as much out as I could find and done a treatment too. If I condition and comb every day from now till his hair appointment is it still ok for him to go?

Have you told the school? I did and they put a note out. I actually even said on our parents group cos I was so fed up! Turned out one of the mum’s and her older daughter had it as did her son! She never thought to check! I even offered to check!!!

Thanks yes told the school and ask put on the class messenger group. They send out a text as always telling everyone which will help a little hopefully. When he does get his hair cut it’ll be back to nice and short again too. He gets it done every 6 weeks but it gets very long very quickly and it’s very thick.

I use a little tea tree oil in with my dd's conditioner and she's never caught them since I started. You can also buy leave in conditioner/detangler spray that is lice repellant and just comb it through every morning.

A hairdresser refused to cut DD's hair once as she found an egg. She instead offered to plait it! Which she did while we waited for other DD's hair to be cut.

🤔 I couldn't see the difference between cutting it and plaiting it - was it about the scissors?

ProclivityForPyrotechnics · 28/05/2022 13:20

@RiverSkater yes I think it's because they would have to sterilise the scissors to get rid of the eggs

Thanks everyone. She didn’t mind doing it as his hair has been completely clear the last few days of meticulous combing. Horray for the nitty gritty!
