Hi everyone,
Ok so my Bub has episodes of holding his breath resulting in him going blue and passing out for a few seconds and then coming around. This happens about 2-3 times every day. Sometimes there’s a reason for him holding his breath (hurts himself) and sometimes there isn’t.
This afternoon he held his breath and it appears he had a seizure. He blacked out then his eyes were wide open and rolled back and he started shaking and was stiff. We took him straight to the hospital where he finally came around. Doctor said it was normal and sent us home. Is this normal?
When he starting breathing again he cried for 2 hours straight. Tried feeding him dinner, didn’t want it. Gave him a bath and then a bottle which he drank but vomited it all straight up after he was finished. He’s just gone to sleep now.
Has anyone experienced this before?

well epilepsy can manifest in many ways and can be v complex to diagnose. I have a child with a v rare epilepsy syndrome and he has all sorts of seizures. The longer episode does sound like a seizure but children can also.suffer from episodes of breath holding resulting in loss of consciousness. As you say it is often due to pain or another emotional response such as fear or excitement.
As it is happening a lot I would push to be referred to a neurologist for proper investigations.
How old is your child btw ?
Sorry you are dealing with this as it can be scary to witness .

oh and try to film as many episodes as you can if possible to show the doctors.

@LorrieLu just wondered if you ever got a diagnosis. We are having similar episodes although not as regularly as your DC.
