Any idea what these are? Not chicken pox.

My DC has a few of these on their body. One area in a larger cluster, but I wasn't able to get a good photo. I thought it was eczema blisters but no cream is helping. They've been there for a few weeks but starting to develop a few more.

Can anyone tell me what they are and how to get rid? And yes, before anyone tells me off - I'm contacting a GP about them but can't get an appointment until next week because it's not urgent.

Looks red in the pics on here but my son had it & looked like your pic. It clears up itself usually, don't think there's a specific treatment.

SoupDragon · 23/05/2022 20:52

I think it's molloscum too.

bloodywhitecat · 23/05/2022 20:52

I agree, mollescum; they look just like the ones DD and DS had when they had it.

TheBigPeach · 23/05/2022 20:56

Same as others have said. My daughter has it. It was mainly under her arms and slightly her back. Can’t remember that if bothered her if at all, but it took 18 months to clear up. I noticed the other day she still has a scar from one or two on her back near her arm.
she was going through a stressful time at school at the time and my mother had just passed away and she had taken it hard. Dr said her immune system was probably a bit low.

TheBigPeach · 23/05/2022 20:56

*had it

adhdforme · 23/05/2022 21:01

Thank you all. That definitely looks similar. I'll continue to keep an eye on it, and I'll see what the GO says. I've been putting Nivea blue cream on them. Is this ok to do still or should o just leave them be?

We were given a cream for use by the dr. When she went swimming she wore a rash vest swim suit although it’s not contagious or anything

CoCoBeBe · 23/05/2022 21:04

Molloscum... Very easily contagious and can be a pain to get rid of. I waited and also tried all sorts but a tiny pot of something similar to the name Molloscum got rid of them... Molludab or similar I think. I'd try that and try to nip it in the bud now, pesky things they are!

PrincessSpanky · 23/05/2022 21:07

Molloscum took 18m to go away on DC2.
DC1 never had it ever.

Covid. A friend's 1yo came out in a rash like this a few days before testing positive

100% not covid. I had a covid rash and it was very different than that. We've all had covid twice and basically been asymptomatic aside from me getting a rash and my DC2 having a cough one night. Besides, I did an LFT on her today because she had a slight cough. Came back negative.

I agree with the other posters that it's what they suggested being molluscum

My son had molloscum behind his knees that looked like that and it caused terrible eczema - so sore - during lockdown couldn’t see a GP. It did clear up eventually all of its own. Seemed a bit like a verrucca in its behaviour - very annoying and then disappears if it’s own accord.

Changechangychange · 23/05/2022 21:19

If it’s molluscum there should be a central indentation like a pin prick.

MarthanotMarfa · 23/05/2022 21:22

Molluscum. Very contagious and spreads if the blister fluid pops (they bleed too) need to be left completely alone. Once contracted you don’t catch them again. Take ages to go - can be a total pain. No bath sharing…my dd caught hers from baby/toddler bubble bath with her cousin.

ChloeHel · 23/05/2022 21:25

Yeah that definitely looks like Molluscum to me!

GP can diagnose but unless severe and causing an issue they generally won’t give a prescription for it as it tends to clear up by itself.

If GP diagnoses it you can go into a pharmacy and order Molludab from them (most don’t keep it in stock) as a PP said, that can help clear it up a bit quicker.
