DD6 Bed Wetting

DD6 potty trained by 2.5 years. She's had the odd night time accidents since then, usually during stressful periods (when we moved countries, and when covid first happened) then nothing for a couple of years.

But over the last 3 or 4 weeks she's had a number of night time accidents (1 or 2 a week). She says it happens when she's asleep so by the time she wakes up it's too late. Nothing stressful going on, no UTI symptoms, good general health. Doesn't drink excessively in the evening, just a cup of water or juice with dinner, which is 1-2 hours before bed. Always has a wee just before bed.

We don't make a big deal of it, just reassure her that it's not her fault, and clean up when it happens. A few times she hasn't told us and we've only found out when finding wet sheets or pjs (she gets herself up and dressed in the morning).

I don't really know what else to do, should we be speaking to a GP? Any advice or suggestions would be a appreciated!

I'd speak to GP. Likely just a phase but good to rule anything out

What type of juice?

Blackcurrant is known to irritate the bladder and make bed wetting more likely.

Apple juice, the basic 'from concentrate' stuff

This happened with my DD and she had threadworm. Little bastards. They really can present in the sneakiest ways so definitely have a little check of her bum before bed some night to see if you can spot any.

Other than that I agree with a GP check to make sure nothing else going on.

Interesting. She's had threadworms a couple of times but never with bed wetting, will keep that in mind, thanks

Please see you GP asap and ask for a finger prick random glucose test (give her some orange juice or similar before the visit). Could be lots of reasons but could also be type one diabetes which requires urgent diagnosis and treatment.
