Hi looking for some advice if anyone has experienced anything similar as I have been on dr Google and now in a panic! Soooo.....
My 4 year old daughter failed her eye test at school. I took her to the opticians and they referred her onto the eye hospital because they said she had elevated optical nerves and occasional headaches. We went to the eye clinic and seen the consultant and she referred my daughter for an emergency MRI because of the elevated nerves. The appointment has come through and is a week away. I just want to know if anyone had been through this and what was the outcome? Thanks

I'm glad you and your family are through this must of been a scary time. On Thursday when we go for MRI it would have been 2 weeks since the hospital appointment. The eye consultant said they would do it after my holiday but put the referral through as urgent but the radiologist got her an appointment before holiday. I can't tell you how much you have all helped to chill me out Abit. Iv stopped using Google and are coming to you experienced people for my answers. Sorry for that but I was just at a lost cause going round and round on Google.

Glad to hear the medication is working for your daughter and you have made me feel a little more at ease as all Google was flagging up was with brain tumors which has obviously sent my anxiety through the roof! I have no experience when it comes to eyes as my eyes test are just in and out. So I am little taken back by it all and didn't know what questions to ask

When my daughter had a suspected brain tumour, she wasn't given an appointment in a week - it was done there and then (and it was found to be a tumour).

During her treatment I meet several other kids and their parents who were diagnosed through an eye test. Every one got sent immediately to hospital for a scan and was diagnosed the same day as the eye test.

So obviously there aren't any guarantees, but I'd they genuinely thought there might be a to this there's, they wouldn't be hanging about for a week.

Fingers crossed its something really solvable!

I should have proofread...

If they thought there was anything serious they wouldn't be waiting a week (or two) is what I'm trying to say.

Sorry to hear about your daughter. Hope she is on the mend now. And this is the thought I was going with surely they would of took her straight in. I'm a worrier at the best of times. She is only 4 and has no idea what is going on which is a good thing. Worse thing I done was go on bloody Google!!

Our story is similar to snoodandgloves. Concerns raised at eye test, referred to Consultant, then rushed into hospital for CT scan, MRI, blood tests. Diagnosed with IHH. Our DD is 21 and also ended up having a lumbar puncture.

It's being controlled by medication but she is still waiting for a further Consultant appointment (7 months and counting) to check whether there's been any improvement.

She still gets the odd headache and days when she just sleeps for ages, but is feeling okay most of the time and able to hold down a job etc.

Wishing you and your DD the best of luck.

She's getting there with surgery recovery, and though there is still some tumour left, it's a slow growing one, so overall prognosis is good, albiet the next few years might be a bit bumpy.

She's had to learn to walk again etc and there'll probably be some long lasting consequences but things could be a lot worse.

She's 3.

I actually think it's better when there are little. The teenagers I met had it much harder I think.

Definitely step away from Google (which I'm terrible at doing). It'll only tell you the worst case scenarios, and your don't need help to think up then anyway.
