What looks like chicken pox but isn't?

My 6yo twins have come up in spots that look like the start of chicken pox but they've already had it! They're all on their legs/stomach areas, and have little white heads on some of the spots, no blisters. Just noticed them this evening. Wondering if i should just wait and see if they go away or if i should keep them off school and try and get them to the doctor's tomorrow in case it's something like impetigo as i gather they might need anti biotics if so. They said they're not itchy or painful and they have no other symptoms.

Hand foot & mouth?

Madamecastafiore · 17/05/2022 20:09

Just because they've had it once doesn't mean they won't get it again. DS had it 3 times.

TomDaleysCardigan · 17/05/2022 20:11

You can have it multiple times. Mine has had it 7 times now. Just depends whether they develop immunity.

Impetigo doesn't particularly look like chicken pox

2MinuteRice · 17/05/2022 20:15

Could be impetigo. It did the rounds at DD's school recently. Looks like chicken pox but isn't!
Have a look at pics online to see if they look similar.
Cream cleared it up in a few days.

Molluscum? Though I doubt they’d appear so quickly.

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 17/05/2022 20:18

Monkey pox...

Chickenkatsu · 17/05/2022 20:18

My DS has chicken pox right now and he's already had it, probably a different strain or something.

Wowzeroony · 18/05/2022 07:15

Thank you all. I'm leaning away from chicken pox because there's no blistering at all. I'll give the gp a call.

Molluscum

yoshiblue · 18/05/2022 07:23

Definitely get the GP to check. I hope it's not mollescum, it's a pain to get rid of 😩

Hangingtrousers · 18/05/2022 07:26

If its molluscum it took us 2 years to clear dds. Hope the gp helps.

Nicolarer · 18/05/2022 15:19

There is monkey pox in the UK at the moment. Definately see the GP. I hope DC is well again soon.

Wowzeroony · 18/05/2022 15:33

The GP reckoned flea bites, as considering their age they've spent a lot of time rolling around in grass in the past week or so at various parks after school. I'm not convinced because they're not itchy but the GP knows better than me!
