You could pay to get him vaccinated before he gets it.
Two jabs, six weeks apart. They do them in many Boots and Superdrug stores.

I can't afford it unfortunately.

No need to vaccinate against Chicken pox. Your child will get natural immunity from it. Just get the calomine lotion ready and warm baths. Between my 3 , one got it very mildly, one quite bad and the other inbetween.

We're currently going through this. DS(3) had it first, he barely suffered at all (he was off preschool for a week, so I was the one who suffered!). DD(8) caught it from him and she's got it much worse, but we're on day 6 and doesn't feel unwell anymore, but still too spotty for school.

Eurax cream and liquid Piriton are the things that have helped the most. We also got a calamine/aqueous cream from Superdrug, massive tub of aqueous cream and a tube of Virasoothe. The Eurax was/is the best though. We did a porridge bath each but it didn't help DD very much.

@Samarie123 I have to disagree with you. Some people get extremely ill from chicken pox. Also, having the vaccine means no shingles later in life.

My father in law is a retired doctor, but from another country where it is part of the regular schedule of vaccinations. He was really surprised it isn't given here as a matter of course.
