Baby High Temperature

My 9mo DD developed a high temperature last night (38°) calpol brought it down, it's gone up again this morning so I've given her another dose.

I looked at the NHS advice and it says if they're drowsy/hard to wake or not interested in normal activities to seek further advice.

She hasn't been too interested in playing, and is asleep again already after only waking up at around 7.45 but surely that is kind of par for the course when unwell, or should I ring the GP?

Hey I hope your little one feels better soon. Its hard to say- always trust your instincts as you'll know if they're really unwell. My DS is same age and came down with a cold- was sleeping more but feeding fine and no rashes etc so I let it run its course as they didnt seem unwell im an alarming way- just what you would expect. If you're worrieed at all give your GP a bell x

Thanks, I'm not too worried as the calpol is working but I'll see what she's like as the day goes on.

When in doubt, call the GP. They would much rather see your child to make sure she's OK and it'll put your mind at ease too - it's a win win. I hope she feels better soon.

Thanks, my gut instinct is that it's just a cold as she's quite snotty as well, but I'll ring the GP later if she's no better.

So she woke up from a nap, was awake for half an hour then fell asleep feeding again but only for 20 minutes. She's much brighter now although still not quite her normal self, she had a tiny amount of Weetabix and raspberries and has been feeding lots so I'm not so worried now.
I have noticed she's got a little hole in her gum so I'm thinking it may all be teething related. This will be her first tooth so I haven't had experience of teething symptoms yet, hoping they're not all like this because it's horrible for her!

@EdithGrantham Hi. It can be teething related but usually only a low grade fever. Monitor her nappy output. My daughter had repeated UTIs as a baby and would often have no other symptoms apart from temp. I'd always advise trying to get a urine sample for baby with temp and no other symptoms eg sickness/ diarrhoea. Hope she gets better soon x

But similarly, my daughter always struggled with teething and often got really hot and snotty as a result x

Thanks, temperature has come right down from 38 when I have her calpol at around 8 this morning to 36.6 about half an hour ago. NHS website says 38 is normal for teething fever. Her nappies are all normal, overnight one was super heavy as normal then the ones I've changed so far have been quite wet too.
