How ill have your children been recently?

Just as it says really…

3yo daughter has been consistently bringing bugs and infections home from nursery since December and I can’t remember the last time she made it at least a fortnight without some sort of illness.

Thankfully she hasn’t had complications or become seriously unwell with anything but it’s just miserable for all involved.

Please tell me it’s not just us?!

Exactly the same here, we’ve had 3 ear infections (DD2), covid (DD1), chicken pox (both) and now a sickness bug (both and now Dh has it) since Feb half term! It feels relentless and I’m wondering what we’re doing wrong!

JoeGoldberg · 27/04/2022 14:13

Same here. Toddler started nursery in January and it's been relentless. I knew from when the older ones started nursery that he'd pick a few things up but this has been insane. Colds, coughs, D&V, chicken pox, then covid. 11yo has been the same, one virus on top of another, then covid, and now tonsillitis. Don't think we've had a full week yet this year where everyone has been well.

I’m sorry to hear you’re having the same problem but grateful that you both replied to let me know it’s not just us. I know their immune systems take a battering in nursery but I wasn’t expecting this!!

Definitely not just you. Averaging every two weeks here too it feels relentless! You are not alone ❤️! Fingers crossed it gets better soon!

Same here and my two are older. Just constant bugs and one of them has been feeling sick every day since having covid 2 months ago.

DS(3) always has a snotty nose and a cough, but over the Easter holidays he was fine for the first time in ages. Went back to preschool on Monday, then on Tuesday he got sent home because he came out in a rash. Chickenpox.

DD(8) has been healthy for ages but now we're just waiting for her to start (hasn't had them yet).

@CoodleMoodle assuming your children weren’t exposed at the same time, it can be up to 3 weeks from exposure. My 3 both had it in March and 2nd one started with spots 2 weeks after the eldest. I hope your DS isn’t feeling too poorly with it.

So far he's fine thanks, just very spotty!

I'm assuming they were exposed at the same time because they spent every second of the holidays together... Could've caught it before that of course, but who knows. It's a waiting game!

Solidarity, OP and everyone else who's DC are struggling with bugs. 11yo hasn't been right since she had covid in March, neither have I for that matter. Zero energy, constant headaches and just feeling sickly and ugh about life.

The chickenpox for toddler was mild, but it seems to have left him constantly snotty with a rumbly little cough. 11yo hasn't had it yet and didn't catch it from toddler which was a surprise!

Roll on sunny days (please!!) and hopefully that will work everyone up Flowers

Quornflakegirl · 28/04/2022 11:44

We’ve been lucky, so far this year, apart from a mild bout of covid (in March) for the dc and dh and I we’ve not been ill for over 2 years.
