Incontinence and GP

My DS (10) has had issues with incontinence for years now. About 4 years ago we finally got an appointment with a urologist who put him on oxybutynin.
This really helped, but during lock down he was taken off the medication and discharged. It has since returned but worse- before it was just day time now it is night time too.
He was referred to a paediatrician in Jan who I spoke briefly to on the phone but wanted to see DS in person, the appointment is in July.
However he is in Y6 and their residential is in June. I really don't want him to miss out but I can't send him when his incontinence is so bad.
Would a GP be able to prescribe the oxybutynin as a temporary solution until the paediatric appointment? Or are they unable to do this because he has been referred? I don't have contact details for the paediatrician to go through him for it.

I would go back to the GP yes.

Why was he taken off the medication and discharged? I would argue they should have made sure that the issue was resolved before he was discharged!

The GP prescribed desmopressin to my child but that's just for night time incontinence.
