Barrier cream and chickenpox

6 month old DD has chickenpox and she has SO MANY spots, I got to 500 and stopped counting. I feel so sorry for her.

She has been pooing more and her bottom is red raw with a bad nappy rash. Usually I'd put some cream on like Bepanthen but she has dozens of angry looking blistery spots in the area too which I guess are best kept dry. So should I use cream or not? Either she suffers because of a terrible nappy rash or I make her chickenpox spots much worse, I can't win!

What would you do?

If use a cream on them. Creams might help soothe the spots too.

Yes use the barrier cream. My LO recently had chicken pox like this and we used sudocrem every nappy change - seemed to help.

That's great to know thank you both! Just really don't want to make things worse for her, poor little mite!

When mine were young we used bicarbonate of soda to help with itching too. Apparently head and shoulders in the bath works well too.
