Can my DS fly? Glue Ear, Tonsils and Adenoids

Hello,

My child is on the waiting list to have his tonsils and adenoids removed and possibly grommets (glue ear not confirmed, awaiting to have a paediatric hearing test).

We want to go to Lake Garda next week but not sure if it’s a good idea with DS having the above and possibly glue ear? Would flying affect him or would he be okay?

Thank you

I never took my ds on a plane for this reason. He suffered a lot of pain anyway so wouldn't want him to suffer on a plane

I saw your title and my first thought was 'well only if you buy him a broomstick' Wink

No. It would be awful for him.

My lo had all above and flew absolutely fine, just make sure has sweets to suck on for take off etc.

Fwiw of under nhs, the grommets waiting list for surgery is over 2.5 years here now and they needed multiple hearing tests to demonstrate the consistency of the issue.

My los first hearing test was at 20 months but first surgery (pre covid) happened at 48 months!
Also, please be aware that it may take repeat grommets and they can refuse to remove the adenoids. We had that drama as well. But we're taken out on subsequent surgery.

Good luck.

Yes he can fly. As pp said suck sweets for take off and landing.
