Can anyone recommend a private assessment clinic for chronic fatigue please. My DS is now struggling every day and his paediatrician has exhausted all physical tests she can do to get to the bottom of it.

Do you know if he has caught covid and he started to get more tired afterwards?

IF it is chronic fatigue syndrome, there isn’t a lot heat western medicine can offer unfortunately.
Id go down the road of nutrition, acupuncture OT (to learn more about pacing) instead.

Thanks so much for your help. Unfortunately this has been going on for many years but i do think his bout of Covid made it worse. Will look into your suggestions, thanks

@doorknobknock I have ME/CFS.

There is some research out there (unfortunately less than there is now about LC - which says a lot about how poorly this area has been researched/looked at) but it’s still very hit and miss on whether whatever they are proposing will work or not for him.

my own experience has been that the one and most important thing for me has been to avoid PEM (post exertion malaise) at all cost.
Then acupuncture and herbal medicine, finding some trigger foods (for me gluten and dairy), looking at nutrition has bene what made a huge difference.
And counselling. NOT on the idea that ME/CFS is a mental illness but because it’s very hard to deal with being so fait I guess all the time. It also helped me put some boundaries in place so I didn’t waste energy on things that weren’t for me iyswim. And making choices etc…. And simply learning to accept some of my limitations so I can pace myself better.

Has he been referred to an ME clinic?

@MarriedThreeChildren No referral to ME clinic but he has ben referred to the peadiatric team but first appointment available is August. If i could find a private team I will just pay. I hadn't considered limitations and putting boundaries in place but you're right. He simply can't do what his peers can and he's exhausting himself trying to, which then makes him feel depressed. Thanks so much for your advice. I will also try to cut out his gluten.

Yes I think it’s the most important thing, whether it’s ME or something else.
he needs to stop pushing himself and take it very easy. Learning what sort of symptoms work as red flags for him that he is doing too much is essential. For me it’s feeling achy but it’s likely his own alarm been will be something different.

im sorry I can’t help with a private referral. But I’ll ask around.
