Yes, everyone needs to be treated. Wash bedding and towels on hot wash and clean shared areas regularly. Get the older ones to help with the cleaning.

To treat threadworms successfully, all household members must be treated, even if they don't have any symptoms. This is because the risk of the infection spreading is very high. The aim of treatment is to get rid of the threadworms and prevent reinfection.
During treatment and for a few weeks afterwards, it's also important to follow strict hygiene measures to avoid spreading the threadworm eggs. This includes regularly vacuuming your house and thoroughly washing your bathroom and kitchen

Thankyou, It may sound silly but I have never encountered this with any of my other children untill now so totally clueless, when do I give the medicine? An do I Clean after I give the medicine? I have used anti bac this evening on almost everything an an will do the same again tomorrow but was thinking to give the medicine in the morning then strip the beds an do tons of washing an deep cleaning, would this work or do I give it at night time an deep clean the following day?

The medicine will take a few days to work. So I would clean now. But then change towels again in the next week. You then need to dose again in two weeks. They are a freaking nightmare.
Getting everyone to wear pants in bed can stop the eggs getting about and should mean you don’t need to change sheets as much.

Thankyou, I have been up since 5.30 using Anti bac everywhere, all been in2 rooms so I have stripped beds an sprayed Anti bac on mattresses ect, we are taking the medicine this morning asa the kids are awake and then I can blitz the 2 rooms an strip those beds ect, washed all soft toys, blankets clothes this morning, I have about another 3 loads of washing to do then all get bathed an Clean bathrooms again, I have never had these so I am freeking out u feel they are crawling everywhere I could hardly sleep 🤕😲

Go to the chemist, buy the Ovex, read the instructions. Don't be embarrassed, it is very common. Make sure everyone wears pants in bed, keep nails short, encourage handwashing and use of a nailbrush, discourage nail biting and nosepicking. Don't share cups, don't share communal food plates.
The fruit plate at nursery used to fill me with horror. Hopefully they don't have those any more.
Hoovering and hot washing sheets and towels is probably more important than spraying antibac on mattresses. You need to be vacuuming up the eggs and destroying them with heat.
Worms spread rapidly in schools and nurseries because they don't take it seriously and don't deal with it.

When you strip the beds do it carefully and don't shake the linen. Fold it carefully on the bed, then put it straight in the machine.

Mumtum8 · 12/04/2022 14:24

I have vermox medicine, I have stripped an washed bedding at 60° I took it off carefully an then sprayed the mattress draws under bed, moped with anti bac an Hoovered moving the bed out ect, scrubbed bathrooms moped an Hoovered, done around 8 loads of washing, bagged soft toys that can't be washed washed ones that can an hard toys anti bac on all including Highchair jumperoo ect, anti bac on all surfaces, light switches, door handles an wardrobes, pushchair I haven't stopped since early hours I won't them gone, I am a clean freak quite ocd so I am baffled how lo has them but heard they are very common

Why are you antibaccing? It's not necessary OP. A damp dust will do. Iron gussets of knickers and wash bumholes and hands immediately on waking, it's the glue that causes the itching. Take the stuff, itll take a few days for them to die, take the stuff again in exactly 2 weeks to mop up the hatchlings.

It happens, it's not a bit deal

How old is your dc and do they attend nursery/school/childminder?
They will have picked them up from a child who already has them. Usually from shared toys/cups/food/fruit bowl.
We had a super spreader at school and it was so annoying because it appeared that the child was never treated.
Same problem with headlice IME.

Agree with this. Don't wear yourself out doing unnecessary stuff OP.

Our children had worms at various times over the years. First couple of times we were like yourself... almost burning the house down to get rid of them!!
In later "infestations" it was everyone in the house take Ovex (2 doses at the recommended interval) and change the bedding of the person with worms.

There was very rarely cross infection between the 4 children and 2 adults (I can't recall any... but may have forgotten or not able to tell if any of the other children had them).

Ovex is great, as soon as you take it, the buggers die (yes, I had them too and as soon as you take the dose, the itchy bum stopped Shock)

Thankyou, I use anti bac on everything it's my go to anyway but obviously done a deeper clean as never had this problem before, I believe my 7 Yr old got them from school as that's the only time I have heard of them when a mother I know child had them around pushing 2 weeks ago but still showing no signs of them just lo but only 10 months so unsure as to how long got them due to not really being around any younger children as such
