Most people in the U.K. have low vitamin D to be honest. Everyone should take daily supplements especially over winter.

Mine was awful. About 10 or something Blush
I didn't realise how painful my shins had been until my levels went up! Had a high dose course and now take 4000IU daily

My son was diagnosed with very low Vit D levels at age of 16, his paeditrician said the levels were in his boots! He was put on high strength Vitamin D for three months.

How low? DD was seriously low at one point. She was on very strong amounts of it daily, I think it was 4 tablets a day.

Not sure he has to go back for more blood tests in 7 weeks.

I think GP will call me next week with anupdate she did last time

I think they want the levels to be between 20 and 40ng/ml.
DD was 4 at best when they took it a few times to check,

However she came up quickly and stayed up, so we don't really know why.

The UK guidance for optimal vitamin D levels is piss poor. I ended up going to a private GP who recommended levels needed to be at least between 40 and 60 ng/mL to be classed as ‘adequate’.

Pretty much anyone tested in uk will be low vitamin d now. We've just come through winter. We all take supplement for that reason.

Asvan · 11/04/2022 23:29

Does anyone know how many units of vitamin d an adult is supposed to take daily? Also what's the recommended amount for children? And can anyone recommend any good vitamin d supplements for kids under the age of 7. Thanks.

Im sure there are lots of us with low vit D but he hasnt been well lately and the GP ran blood tests and came back with low vit d and calcium levels. Some of the symptons of low vit d definitely he has and we're hoping a boost over the next few weeks help to oversome some of this.

He's been given InvitaD3
