Who is getting their 5 to 12 year old the COVID vaccine?

I see that people are being invited to book their 5 to 12 year olds in for the COVID vaccine.

I'm not here to have a discussion about conspiracy theories and I myself am fully vaccinated.

But what are people's thoughts on getting their young children done.

Both mine have already had COVID and to be honest it was just a mild cold for them. As such, I'm just wondering whether it's worth it... Particularly if the vaccine will need topping up again and again.

What are you guys thinking?

@beattieedny

No. It doesn't prevent infection and they have had it very mildly. I see no benefit and neither did the JVCI so, until there's more data on long term benefits, I won't be.
What did the Chief Medical Officers say? You know, the actual experts?

Forgot to say 11 year-old has had asymptomatic covid and younger 2 haven't had it.

Lol.

Experts, lol. Really? Hope you breastfed for at least two years then. And do all the advised exercise as per NHS guidance?

My 5 year old is booked for next week. She had covid last summer and it has left her with bad tinnitus that is likely there for life.

Two things have changed in the last two years to mean the experts now recommend it.

  1. We know a lot more about the virus. They know more about how the virus affects children, the rate they spread it etc
  1. All vulnerable and elderly who wanted to be vaccinated have now been, meaning that the less vulnerable can also now be jabbed. Had it been a recommendation at the beginning, some parents would have panicked that their children were much lower priority.

I've just booked my eldest in for tomorrow. The youngest isn't old enough yet
