My ds currently has chickenpox.

He's so uncomfortable and clearly tired but can't fall asleep - wants his dummy but they are in his mouth poor thing.

Has anyone got/ used any remedies to help relieve little ones? I'm cautious that he isn't drinking a lot and want him to try and rest.

Also he's been sick? Is this common for chickenpox I can't see anything on the nhs website.

Thanks

My dd had severe chickenpox. I used bicarb in the bath. I bathed her everyday but only used the bicarb every other day, it helped so much with the itching. I'd use camomile lotion on the itchy ones after her bath and gave her piraton too. The oats never worked for her. I've heard head and shoulders too but didn't try it. Just watch the eyes because my dd got 2 in her eyes and ended up on antibiotics as it became infected and there's nothing you can put in the eyes. It's horrible to see them so uncomfortable. Hope it settles soon.

I had bad chicken pox one very hot summer when I was 13. It drive me bonkers as I knew I couldn't scratch.

The think that helped me the most was a warm bath up to my chin and a cup full of bicarbonate of soda in the water. It takes the itch out instantly but it only lasts whist you are submerged.

Get a big box of the stuff. It really helps.

The other thing that helps is a blow drier for afterwards.
