Aptamil New Formula?

Sorry if I’m in the wrong place - I wasn’t sure which category to post this thread in.

Is anyone having trouble with the new updated formula? My daughter has been having quite watery poops the past 5 days. She isn’t pooping more often than usual, just when she does it’s very loose.
She had her 8 week injections a week ago so I’m well aware that could be causing it but it just happened to coincide with opening the new tub of formula.
Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem, or if it is caused from the injections how long should that be causing it for really?

It will be rotavirus vaccine.

@Duracellbunnywannabe Thank you for your reply!
Just read through the link, it does say it can cause diarrhoea in the days following.
It’s exactly a week today since she had the vaccine - is that to be expected?

I can’t remember my youngest is 2.5 yrs now but if you ring the GP’s surgery the practice nurse should be able to tell you. It’s a live vaccine so you need to take extra care with hand washing after nappy changes.

You have to be extra careful with handwashing after nappy changes for two weeks after the rotavirus vaccine as it remains active in the body so it could well be caused by that.

Yes. My daughter hasn't had injections recently. The last 2 tubs of milk we have bought have been the new formula. She isn't pooing as much and when she is its waterey different colour. More green as apposed to 'korma" curry and she is more unsettled. It does say on the leaflet my cause different poo etc but not sure for how long :(

@Michelleoli Hi Chick, just thought I should reply to you as my daughter had terrible watery green poops and a lot of painful wind.
I persevered for about 4 weeks as when I contacted Aptamil customer services they said it could take 2 weeks or so. For us it didn’t get better, I switched to SMA and she’s been back to normal. :-)
Wishing you luck for you and your little one.

Hi, do you mind updating? What happened in the end? We are in the same position as you and don’t know whether to just stick or twist. It’s been two full weeks now. Nappies stink.

Orionids · 28/05/2022 11:49

@sellotape12 Hiya hun, I know exactly what you mean I was so torn! Especially after speaking to Aptamil they said it would take around 2 or so weeks so improve.. but honestly she had a new milk (we went for SMA as I read Cow & Gate are the same factory as Aptamil - could be wrong though) and the week she had her new milk she instantly improved. Slept a lot better, nappies improved within a couple of days and the painful wind was gone. Kicking myself for not just swapping milk sooner but it’s all a learning curve!
whatever you decide, wishing you luck ♥️

Thank you!! The hesitation is because we have 2 new and unopened boxes of Aptamil 1 and my husband thinks it’s a waste of £ to quit it now. But the nappies!! The extra washing! The stench! Trying to persuade him to rethink….. will try Sma OR Kendamil
