Chickenpox vaccine after exposure! Is it worth it?

Hello! Looking for some advice please. My DS was in very close contact with his little friend on Friday who woke up Saturday morning covered in chickenpox. We are due to go on holiday in 3.5 weeks (something special that’s been planned for ages) and I am also 5 weeks pregnant (I had chickenpox as a child). I’ve read that getting DS the vaccine 3-5 days after exposure may help with contracting the infection or the severity of it? Any advice on this? What would you do! Eeeek!

The chicken pox vaccine is a two dose vaccine that’s given a minimum of 4 weeks apart, it’s expensive and, generally, has to be ordered in so add that, along with difficulties in booking appointments at the surgery, it may not help with your holiday plans.

That said, Boots pharmacy (some) do offer it so it may be quicker to at least get a first dose with them rather than at the GP surgery.
