I posted about this a few months ago and now I can't find the thread. Ds is 8 and walks on his tip toes. For context he also has global development delay/moderate learning difficulties and took his first steps aged 2.5 years. He also wears insoles in his shoes. We saw an orthotist in about September last year I think and he was really patronising and said there was nothing wrong with ds and he should just stop doing it. He also told me off for not doing exercises recommended by the physio when we hadn't seen a physio for 6 years anyway and the physio hadn't said we should be doing exercises with him when he was discharged anyway.
We were supposed to see his paediatrician in October but it got rescheduled due to covid and we saw her yesterday. She said his muscles were really tight and that his balance is really bad when he tried to walk with his feet flat on the floor and he was walking bent over. When he was walking on his tip toes he could stand up straight. Paediatrician said she was going to refer him to an orthopaedic Dr and they might recommend stretching exercises but he might need more than that. I'm nervous about what kind of treatment he might need and I'm anticipating a long wait to see the orthopaedic Dr. I'm not sure how long though, I forgot to ask.
