Toddlers sudden aversion to bath and nappy changes

My DD is 20 months old and has always loved the bath, she baths every night and we play with her bath toys with her. However on Monday night when we started to take her clothes off for her bath she became hysterical (I've never seen her in such a mess) she refused to sit down in the bath, my husband got in with her to see it that would help but it didn't. We washed her quickly and got her out. This has happened every night since! She does calm down eventually if I get in the bath with her but it takes a while.

Since Tuesday morning she has also become extremely stressed and upset when we try to change her nappy (poo or wee) she kicks about, cries hysterically and tries to flip over onto her front to lay on the floor. She doesn't seem to mind me wiping her bottom but she seems very guarded of her girlie parts. When me or DH wipe her or wash her down there she is flinching like it could be painful.

She is acting completely normal in herself otherwise, she is eating and drinking, playing and doesn't have a temperature. She doesn't attend nursery or any settings like that so I can't ask anyone else about it.

I do have a doctors appointment via video call thisafternoon but I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

I think lots and lots of toddlers go through this. My little one recently decided he objected (very, very loudly) to baths so I stopped bathing him for a while. If he was really mucky I washed him down with a jug in an empty bath. We did lots of water play then bam!, as suddenly as his fear had come on it went away. Tonight he screamed through dinner because I had mentioned the fact that he was going to have a bath after dinner, he wanted the bath NOW!

Same with nappy changes, I try to keep a distraction toy that he only has when I am changing his nappy,

Sounds like she might have a slight infection or sore bit. Just enough to sting in the bath or when wiped.

Maybe needs the doctor to have a look or good old sudocrem might be enough.

I would be handing in a urine sample to be tested
