My 7 year old son had a headache that made him cry on 30/01/2022 and is still having them now. Don't always make him cry, Calpol stops them, has been sick a few times. I am under the hosp awaiting a scan but going out my mind thinking the worst. Has anybody experienced this? Came on so suddenly and have not gone away. Doesn't have them all day, doesn't always need medicine. Out of 19 days been sick on 6 days and only had 3 days with no headache.

Hopefully its nothing sinister, but if it is, please feel free to PM me.

We had those symptoms, and unfortunately it was a brain tumour. This was about 2 weeks ago, and so we are still in Hospital etc. The outlook is pretty good for my little one, so even if you hear that words, don't assume the worst.

Hopefully, there'll be a nicer explanation in your case. But if there isnt, and you want to talk, you know where i am.

I’m sorry you’re both going through this. I found your thread; hope it’s ok to post here as I feel silly sharing my worries with anyone IRL.

DD (11) has a fairly rare visual defect, but it doesn’t really cause any problems. On Tuesday I got called to school - she was very upset, said she’d lost some vision on the side of her left eye and everything was blurry. Had a bit of a headache just before. The vision loss was short lived and came back, she struggled with photo sensitivity just on the day after, no headache now but she’s still finding small print difficult to read because of the blurring.

Took her to the opticians - they said her prescription didn’t need changing and referred her to ophthalmology. The optician couldn’t give me any indication of what was wrong but suggested her optical system was under stress as her squint has also returned. DD still can’t see clearly - but she was fine before Tuesday.

I’m now waiting to go to ophthalmology on Tuesday but I’m worrying myself to a frazzle that there’s something really wrong and - of course - I’m thinking the worst.

I don’t know why I’m posting really; I know there’s nothing I can do until we see the doctors but I can’t stop worrying so I suppose I’m looking for reassurance. @Somuchgoo I hope you’ve had a good outcome and @Robinsnest20 I hope that you’ve got an explanation now and that it’s not what you feared but something easily treatable.

We have had two periods like this with the same 7 year old. The first time it seems to have been anxiety, the second time was related to a head injury (bang on hard floor). Both times it resolved. Somuchgoo so sorry that you got the news you did.
