3 year old irregular heart beat

My son is just 3, after him saying on odd occasions that his tummy 'tickles' and then pointing to his chest, my mum (a nurse) suggested I check his pulse in case he means his heart (which I didn't even think of)
So I tried to take his pulse but his heart beat is so all over the place that I can't count it properly. I asked my mum to check yesterday and she said it's definitely irregular.
When I place my hand on his heart it feels fluttery (only word I can think of) with the odd discernible beat.
Now he is currently under a cardiologist as he had endocarditis 2 years ago, no irregular heart beat at the time and he's only still under them as he was due a final echo last July (a year after the first) just because they wanted to be sure he was fine before discharging him.
I have chased and been told I'm on a waiting list but I'm going to ring tomorrow and explain my concern to hopefully get an appt soon.
My question is, what can cause this to develop? His heart at his last echo (in 2020) was absolutely fine, all normal.
Also, what could be causing it? He's fine in himself, he does tire easily after running around/ doing kid stuff, like at a party this week he will run around playing for 15/20 minutes and then say he's tired and needs a rest but he's done this for a while. My other kids just kept going forever but I just thought he was more chill than them haha

I’d be booking a GP appointment pretty quickly OP and making sure you get seen urgently by cardiology again. I know for adults they do 24 hour tapes where they put a five lead ECG on for the whole day to catch any arrhythmias - I wonder if they do something similar for kids?

I’d honestly call up the GP tomorrow and ensure you have an urgent appointment

Personally I'd be taking him straight to a and e

Oh wow ok. I got through to the cardiologists secretary today who said will pass on concerns and will get back to me this week.
I'm normally a super worrier but I always assume I am over reacting.

Hope he gets seen soon. We can always access cardiac nurse or cardiologist's secretary if there is a problem with my dd. She gets lots of palpitations and had a Zio patch recently.

My kid gets irregular rhythms.

The only way to diagnose it is by an ECG, while they have the rhythm.. so if it turns back normal you dont know what the rhythm was.

They wouldn't do an ECG on a kid at the GP surgery, and the problem with a routine review is they may not be in the abnormal rhythm when they have their booked appt.

Hi, I’m unsure what might have caused the heart irregularity. But I wondered, how did it go with the GP? I’m guessing you were referred for an ECG? I hope you’re on course to finding out what’s going on and to a solution, if it’s needed.

I just discovered my 5yo has quite a severe night-time irregular rhythm, every other minute there’s a cluster of about five consecutive single fast beats amidst some normal beats. So we’re seeing the GP tomorrow.
