Keratosis Pilaris picking

My son (asd 12) picks his arms until they bleed and get infected. We’ve tried all the creams, body brushing, fidget toys. He’s ended up with his arms wrapped in bandages several times. Any idea how I can stop him picking and scratching?

This ^^ The cream smoothed mine within days

Might be a stupid suggestion but are his nails filed really short and smooth to limit damage? Greasy creams like diprobase will make it harder to do much damage but are horrible as your clothes stick to them too.

I find products with urea help mine, like ccs foot cream or eucerin.

Have tried urea creams, e45, emollient bath stuff, lots of different prescriptions from doctors.
Will try ameliorate and bandage him like a mummy in between!

Poor kid - I do this too. Once you start it makes it hard to stop Sad

I use those scrubby bath sponges and then slather in body butter, but the best thing for me is usually sunshine. Given that there’s not a lot of that about some vitamin D might help? Not sure if it’s the vit D or the melatonin that helps in summer but might be worth a try (and it helps protect against covid too so win win!)
