Hi ladies :) my 3 year old had blood work about 2 months ago and his ALP was quite high, 2470 to be exact. I got panicked cause is a liver marker and got really sad..his pediatrician was not overly worried and told us that children have higher ALP levels although he did said that my son's was higher than he usually sees. Overall he was not concerned and told us to repeat in 3 months. I'm really anxious about it and scared! He has energy, eats, drinks sleep well. Any of you mommies out there that might have similar experience with very high ALP in child that ended up being nothing? TIA

It isn't just a liver marker, it is also a bone marker (and a few other things) and can be higher in kids as they grow so much Smile. He might be having a growth spurt!

@ATrifleofFun Hi,and thanx for replying! Yes,the doctor did mention the growth spurt but I cannot see much of a difference in his height the months following his blood works..

Hi Op how did you get on. My little one has high phosphate so I’m worried xx he’s 21 months x

@Fightingtobepositive Hi,im the original poster :) qe repeatwd the bloot test after 4 months and it was completely normal. I was worried sick but it was nothing. Is very common with growth spurts from what i understand!! If your child seems fine and no other symptoms i wouldnt worry if i were you! My sons values were very very high,2417 and it was absolutely nothing!!

@Fightingtobepositive phosphate is not the same thing as alkaline phosphatase (which is what the OP’s post was about).
