Could it be Covid toe? She had Covid 2 about 6 weeks ago now. It's probably been like this for a good month or so. Can't quite remember when it started.

All shoes fit ok.

What else might it be?

There's no pain and it's not bothering her. No major incidents so don't think it's been broken.

Raynauds?

Chilblain

BergamotMouse · 05/02/2022 17:07

Not sure about either of those. Doesn't make a difference if she's warm or cold. I don't think she's been exposed to severe enough temperatures for chillblains but I will look into both in more detail. Google images certainly shows similar looking toes.

I get chilblains, you don’t have to be exposed to extremes of temperature. In fact they are more common when exposed to cold but not freezing air, then warming up, then getting cold and warming up again. So pretty common in DC eg playtime, back into the classroom, playtime, back into the classroom, walking home, back into the house, outside sport, back home for tea.

That and the fact that a lot of footwear for kids is inadequate (not saying your dcs is but lots of kids “school” shoes are fashion type and aren’t especially waterproof or warm and that’s especially true if your dc is a girl) Add in “school” tights etc and it’s not great. My dc wear these things too so it’s not a dig, but if I wore the same thing I’d have chilblains very quickly, as I’m prone to them. I have to wear proper cotton/wool blend socks or tights, extra socks on top, genuinely waterproof shoes and usually carry a spare pair of socks too, just in case - because once the chilblain sets in it takes weeks to clear.

I’ve three toes suffering the same at the moment unfortunately. They might be healed by summer.

I’d be straight to the doc with that
