Dd constantly unwell

My dd started nursery a year ago. She goes two mornings a week. She has been unwell with the cold (some worse than others) constantly. We've not had a break from coughing, sneezing, runny nose, etc.

I thought this would all settle down after a couple of months but she's constantly unwell with something. I kept her off before Christmas and she recovered from her cold so she was ok for Christmas Day, went back 2 weeks later and came down with something else within a couple days of going back.

My eldest had coughs and colds and things while at nursery but never as bad as this.

Is this normal?

Hi OP, we're just moving your thread to our Children's Health topic and giving it bump in case anyone's around to answer your query.

Same it's awful.

We did the same thing kept him off before Christmas, then straight back to it in January with virus after virus.

Poor babies, and poor parents with no sleep! I'm putting it down to them not mixing as much when younger or in least in my case, he was only 5 months when the first lockdown hit so no playgroups, soft play etc....

I feel your concern, but if it helps I know a lot in the same situation

Get her checked out by your GP if you’re worried, but low level colds throughout most of the winter are very common at this age. I went to our GP when my DD had been a bit under the weather for the better part of 7 months, and our doctor diagnosed her with Benign Toddleritis. 😝

This is my life too. Lo goes to nursery two days a week. Gets a cold, just getting a bit brighter in time to go the next week and gets another one. If she's had a dry nose for longer than two consecutive days, I consider it a win! It's relentless but so many of my friends are reporting the same, so not unusual unfortunately.

Thanks everyone.

I thought this would settle down after a few months at nursery but sadly not.

Glad I'm not alone.

Thanks for bumping @DawnMumsnet
