Hidden Cleft Palate

Can anyone shed some light on a 'hidden cleft palate' please?
My daughter is 3 and is severely behind in her speaking, she struggles to communicate with others apart from me and her dad as we're the only 2 who can understand her so much so she now has a 'communication book' to help her in social situations.
We had our second speech therapy session last week, where the speech therapist said she was very stumped with how my daughter spoke as it all comes out of her nose which is why no one can understand her.
She rang me the beginning of this week to say she's 80% certain my daughter has a 'hidden cleft palate' and now we're under Cleft lip and Palate Ward. But we've been given no information about it Hmm
Any help or info would be appreciated xx

Does your DD have a bifid (split) uvula? That is a sign of a mild cleft palate, and easy for you to spot.

Look up Submucosal Cleft Palate on the CLAPA website. It’s basically a gap in the palate I high is covered by Skin/Muscle, so when you look into the mouth you do not see a gap as you typically would with a normal cleft. Xxx

Hello, I’ve just seen this post. My son has this and is 2.4 yrs and is behind in speech. If you don’t mind me asking, how has daughters speech come along in the last year?

This sounds very suspiciously like my dbro 40 years ago. The only reason for his poor speech given was "high palate".
His speech was so poor that although we as a family understood him, no one else did for a long time.
It would sound like:
Ah u ut eek pu mu? (have you got mile for me?)

It was a long haul with him, but I think by the time he was 5 or 6 he was fairly comprehensible. I occasionally notice some sounds he doesn't totally get (tends to use "ezz" rather then "ex" or "acc", for example) but it hasn't held him back.
