Very worried mummy; possible epilepsy

Took little dude to a&e last night as he was doing very jerky consistent movements as in video above; screws face tenses hands etc. They kept us in paediatrics after 7 hours in a&e and we saw a paediatric neuro specialist by chance as he was on duty. He explained that it didn’t look like infantile spams (my inital worry) but that he thinks it could possibly be myclonic jerks and as such epilepsy. We have an EEG tomorrow morning but obviously super worried and wondering if anyone has been through or seen similar. (Please excuse husband legs in background and my super deep voice) this video was today after his nap he had about 10 sets of this in 30 mins. (Note: we have been sent home and told to record this) also it dosnt bother him; his heart rate and oxygen don’t change. And as you can see he seems to come out of it when you stop. Also mainly happens sat up like this!

Can anyone advise how to add video?

If you're new it won't let you upload content, my son (6 years) has epilepsy and initially it was so scary but he's well on medication and thriving.

Try to be calm, the eeg can be a bit overwhelming for wee ones and remember he's in the best hands x

Thank you so much for your reply. May I ask how you knew and when he was diagnosed. I’m trying to hold it together and be super strong for him but I feel terrified at same time xx

We knew early on, he started having vacant episodes then he would be jerky or stiff during them and then by age 3 he was having full grand mal seizures. We weren't listened to until just before his 4th birthday.

If someone is taking this seriously now it will be a much quicker process I should hope.

DS has some mild seizures now but largely has a normal happy life. Don't be afraid to advocate and stand your ground. They might know medicine but you know your child

They will be able to tell once the eeg has been done. Glad they have ruled out IS immediately although it would be good to have that confirmed on the eeg. Hope it has gone ok
