Chicken pox vaccine

Hi,

My older 3 kids all had chicken pox in infant school.

We now live abroad, and my almost 5 year olds haven't had chicken pox because the majority of children here have had the vaccine!

If I get them the vaccine, does it wear off? Will they be more prone to shingles as adults?

I really need to make a decision, but if I don't get them the vaccine I doubt they will ever catch it as children, unless from a holiday maker! Not sure what to do for best!

The vaccine actually prevent shingles as adults. As shingles is the old virus reactivating. We don’t yet know how long the vaccine lasts. I think a lot of places think at least 10-20 years as that’s when first kids were vaccinated. But not sure if it will last a lifetime.

I would get the vaccine. To protect others and themselves.

The vaccine has not been around long enough to know if it lasts a lifetime
