Hello. I need to help or advise if anyone can help! My LO is 3 nearly 4 and has been diagnosed with asthma for a year now. Unfortunately the medication isn't working and the Dr told us today they don't know what the problem is. Everytime my LO gets a cold she seems absolutely fine during the day and manages really well,l. Then Night time it's a constant cough, so much mucus rattleing around in her throat/chest. She coughs, gags and chokes on the excess mucus. She gets about 2/3 hours sleep until the cold is gone. It's absolutely hell and she catches a cold every 2 weeks at the moment. Please help

I’d push for further medical review. Asthma needs to be managed.

Thank you. They have referred me to a peadtrician. They said they are not sure if it is asthma as the blue inhaler dosn't work when she's coughing at nighttime. 🤷

Agree with regular reviews.
Obviously be strict about using the brown preventer morning and night, and blue when needed.
The cold thing is made worse by the asthma, but because its mucus the inhaler won't do much. I used to sleep with mine - I would sleep in a sitting position cradling the child also in a sitting position, if that makes sense. We didn't sleep too badly this way.
Olbas Oil helps clear airways.
I remember my mum lying me on my stomach before bedtime and doing a gentle pounding massage to loosen the mucas. Have a Google of how to do this safely, as they use this technique for children with systic fibrosis.
