Movicol, light stools and infections.

Has anybody had any experience with movicol making stools lighter? My daughter 3 y/o has always suffered with constipation and has been on movicol for 2 years, she only needs 1 sachet every 2 days. I've noticed recently her stools are a light brown, their not always. But today I noticed that it was quiet light and pale brown, I've looked online and this just panicked me. She has been quiet unwell since September ever since we had covid getting constant infections and the doctor has booked her in to have a full blood count on the 4th but ge thinks she's just suffering from recurrent infections, will this pick up anything abnormal regarding her liver etc? I haven't mentioned the lightenss of her stools to the doctor as of yet as I didn't think much of it until today's bowel movement. Just looking for a little reassurance or advice? Thanks in advance!

My dd has been on Movicol for years, and I've never found it to cause lighter stools. It's a stool softener, which works by drawing water into the bowel, so I can't see why it would affect the colour. I would def mention it to your GP, in case it indicates an underlying problem.

Thank you! I haven't yet mentioned anything to the doctor as she has no symptoms of anything sinister. She does have a blood test the 4th Jan l but I do also think it may be allergy related. Can I ask what changes you made to the diet? Did you change just milk or did you change everything dairy wise?

Sorry this is late reply, my daughter on it and we sometimes have lighter stools when the transit of stool is quicker through the gut. She is also on senna and stools can be yellow if they have propelled quickly through the gut. Our nurse said nothing to worry about. Also we are vegetarian and told that stools may be more often lighter.
