22 month old intermittent vomiting

Hi all

I’m hoping you can help a sleep deprived and stressed mumma out!

Our DS (almost 23 months now) had what seemed like a stomach virus a week ago. Threw up suddenly on the Saturday evening, then vomited again Sunday night and again Monday night. The Monday night round was a lot and he ended up being assessed at A and E.

After that Monday he was doing fine until suddenly last night (Saturday again) he vomits everywhere again. Three rounds until his poor little tummy is dry.

Today is perky as anything - happy chap. We’ve had him seen by an OOO nurse who sort of glanced at him from 2m away and said nothing seemed wrong with him.

Has anyone experienced this sort of intermittent vomiting before?

The only link between the start of the last one and this onset is that he had an egg at lunch on each Saturday. However the vomiting is a good 12 plus hours after the egg is consumed? If it was an intolerance wouldn’t it be immediate?

Any words of comfort or advice really truly appreciated - bedtimes and overnight have turned into very tense affairs here!

Thank you for that - it brings some comfort to know that maybe it is just bug rumbling on!

Has he had a urine test done?

I would assume it's just the tummy bug lingering. That happens sometimes. If he was well in himself I'd not worry unless it persists beyond a week or two more.

Are you giving him any dairy products, DD used to have tummy bugs from nursery and would be fine for a few days after the first round of vomiting then as soon as she had dairy it would start again?

Around 2 months ago my DS had similar. Was sick on and off for 2 weeks - mostly during the nights. I think it was a nasty bug but the doctors didn’t seem too concerned. He did end up with a bad chest after it though (I think due to all the sickness and sore throat etc) and they prescribed him an inhaler to help for a few days.

Good luck and I hope he feels better soon x
