Has anybody experienced their child hysterically laughing during sleep. DS (5) has gone to bed regular time for the past 2 days but between 10 and 11 has woken s up to him hysterically laughing. It's more than hed ever laugh normally and sounds manic. Hes completely asleep and it lasts about a couple of minutes, hell then wriggle for the next couple of minutes and move his face a lot and go back to sleep. I have woken him both times straight after as it was truly unnerving and hes been fine but has no recollection. Has anyone else experienced this with a child? I am getting an appointment with gp but they're few and far between.

My daughter is 3 and half and has had two periods of laughing with eyes open but both times it’s been when she’s been woken from a deep sleep then she goes back so I’m trying not to worry but I think it may be a dream.
@Pinkvelocoraptors how did you get on?

It is scary isn’t it 😂
I just shouldn’t of googled stuff as I get so worried but both times was when she woke and went back to sleep so she was in a sleep state both times!

This is the comment I was looking for. My daughter just did a hysterical laugh that didn’t sound like it was coming from her at all, and yes she was running a fever.

Hi! My son did this in January when he had a fever. Like completely delirious laughing in the middle of the night. Just saw a tiktok about gelastic fevers and now I'm worried! Did anything come of yours?
