DD wrist pain - possible fracture?

Hi, DD never really complains about anything, she’s quite tough! But yesterday she said she fell off her friends skateboard right on her wrist and it’s bugging her. Given pain relief etc. She can move it, it’s not obviously broken and not swollen. Perhaps just a bit red. Would I be wasting their time at minor injuries with this? It can’t be broken can it?

It sounds like a minor injury at the very least, I’d take her just for piece of mind and perhaps they’ll bandage it or give more pain relief.

I picked my son up from school Friday afternoon he had been pushed over at lunch when playing bull rush and the other child fell on him, he came out of school complaining his wrist hurt and it hurt to rotate it. As it was the weekend I thought I better get it looked at so went to the walk in centre he had a buckle fracture and sprained wrist other then pain and very slight swelling you would never have known. I would get it checked as it may well be fractured.

How old is she? I was told by a nurse wrist fractures in young children are quite common and often overlooked because they don’t cause a lot of symptoms. DD fell off a swing when she was 5 or 6, she seemed fine but a week or so later was still sore so we took her to hospital (minor injuries referred us to kids a&e as they couldn’t treat children) - she had a small fracture in both wrists. Only one needed a cast though, and they both healed quickly.

Hi, she’s 14... I think I will take her along first thing, better safe than sorry. She won’t be happy if they put her in a cast though I bet!
