I don't find your post easy to follow, but has she tried period knickers?

WreckTangled · 26/10/2021 20:05

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor.

As far as I am aware there is no issue in continuously taking the pill. The 7 day break was only put in to appease the pope (yes, really). A gp I worked with once said there's no reason to have the break.

I found this article which might be useful?

Obviously speak to gp/nurse if worried but that info might help you.

Hi OP, I feel for you and your daughter, it's a big transition for any young girl let alone with autism too. You mentioned sensory, is it the pads she is uncomfortable with mainly? Is she getting cramps?

Hi , Yes she gets really bad cramps can't get out of bed and she doesn't like the feel when your walking around and can feel the blood going into the pad

Do you mean the reuseable period pants of the ones you throw away

Thank you that helpful sometimes she gets random bleeds on the pill so do you think that's normal

I don't have teen DDs but lots of posters on here say their daughters love the resusable period pants (and so do lots of adult women!)

If the cramps are that bad then it would be worth seeing the doctor
Meanwhile is she taking ibuprofen or feminax to help with the pain?

WreckTangled · 26/10/2021 20:15

The pill can cause breakthrough bleeding/spotting especially when new to it. But again, any concerns speak to a gp (sorry I don't want anyone to jump on me for giving advice, this is just my experience and what I've read).

Sue was prescribed medication for cramps she used it for a bit but didn't help so they told her to use ibuprofen but it only helps a little

Ok thank you appreciate your help I will try and see if I can speak to a gp next week

Yes would speak to the GP again if ibuprofen isn't helping and she's still in a lot of pain. It doesn't sound like the pill is having the desired effect so it's worth revisiting the options.

I'm also not an expert but had very uncomfortable heavy periods as a teen and it was miserable. Looking at diet and exercise might be helpful too.
